Dessert and a Movie Monday: Strawberry Shortcake and Stepford Wives

Monday, March 5, 2012

Hey there princess!

This dessert and a movie Monday features two sweet treats that are perfect for the coming spring season! Take a trip down to your local farmer's market and pick up some fresh strawberries to make yourself this divine dish. If you're feeling generous, you can even share it with your many suitors!

More on Stepford Wives:

What does it take to be a Stepford wife, a woman perfect beyond belief? Ask the Stepford husbands, who've created this high-tech terrifying little town, in a modern-day comedy thriller.

This flick combined three of my favorite things: Nicole Kidman, Matthew Broderick, and sparkly dresses. Also, watching Bette Midler bake up a storm is a personal hobby of mine. Raoul, my magic mirror gives it two thumbs up. Check it out!

Strawberry Shortcake Recipe:

4 cups sliced fresh strawberries
1/2 cup sugar

2 1/3 cups Bisquick mix
2/3 cup milk
3 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp butter, melted
1 container whipped cream

Mix strawberries and 1/2 cup sugar, set aside. Heat oven to 425 degrees F.

Stir Bisquick mix, milk, 3 Tbsp sugar and the butter until soft dough forms. Drop by 6 spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Split warm shortcakes; fill and top with strawberries and whipped topping.
