Hey there princess!

I recently made a trip to Chandor Gardens, located in Weatherford, Texas, where I visited the estate of Douglas Chandor. The gardens, originally called White Shadows, were carved into the 4 acres of cow pastures by Chandor and his wife in 1936 and are a perfect combination of Chinese iconography and the traditional British garden.

Douglas Chandor, an acclaimed portrait artist, was famed for his paintings of esteemed political figures. Born in the United Kingdom, he moved to Texas to marry Ina K. Hill and came to consider the Lone Star State his home. He devoted his life to creating beauty all around him, both on and off the canvas. He made his new home a retreat for himself and his wife.

The great thing about places like this is that they are all around. They are in your backyard too, and all you have to do is look for them! I am so glad that I took the time to go on this little adventure this week, and it has inspired me to find more fun places to visit around where I live.

Where can you explore this week?
