31 Days of Spooky Movies - The Haunted Mansion (2003) PG

Sunday, October 4, 2026

 Hey there princess!

Today’s movie is a nostalgic one for me - The Haunted Mansion (2003). Now, is this the highest quality movie ever? No. Does it make me feel super nostalgic for one of my favorite Disney rides? Absolutely.

This movie was made during a time in Disney history where they were making all of the rides into feature films. Not all of them can be cinematic genius (Pirates of the Caribbean, 2003) and thankfully they weren’t all nightmare fuel (County Bears, 2002). I would rate The Haunted Mansion somewhere right there in the middle - full of ride references with some decent laughs in between.

Now, I know Disney did another Haunted Mansion movie in 2023 that was a little more horror-leaning but we aren’t going to talk about that here. We are going to pretend it didn’t happen. Hushhhh.

One of my favorite things about the 2003 Haunted Mansion movie is how incredible the sets were. This is such a beautifully done movie, and it looks (to my biased imagination) like if the house from Pollyanna became haunted by some silly spooks.

I have dreams of this house. I dream about the library, the dining room, and the expansive grounds with private mausoleum access. What more could a girl want?

If you have any interest in the Haunted Mansion attraction, I would highly recommend this movie!

On a personal note - here are some cute photos of my family’s trip to Disneyland in 2023 where we actually got to ride on the Haunted Mansion! This was such a fun and special time, and I am so grateful that we were able to go. It was a bit daunting to wait in line in the August heat with my 1 year old, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

The line for this attraction has all kinds of cool stuff to look at, and while there wasn’t much shade, the line did move quickly.

I love all of the details put into the architecture of the exterior of the building. Especially after visiting New Orleans a few years prior, I felt like I could appreciate all of the authentic touches.

Bonus! The ride shut down during our turn and the lights came on, so I quickly snapped a photo of my little boy with the iconic wallpaper in the background!

Spook on!

Cinderella-Inspired Prom Dresses - Meet Me At Midnight

Monday, April 24, 2023

 Hey there princess!

Prom season is upon us, and I have seen so many gorgeous gowns on the market! Attending prom was such fun part of my high school experience, and I drew inspiration from my favorite Disney Princess, Ariel, when selecting my dress. For me, the goal when selecting a dress for any event is to choose something that I can look back at photos of in ten years and not feel completely mortified by how dated I look. Simple, classic, and elegant are all elements that make a dress a great investment.

Looking at the options for this year, I thought there were tons of gorgeous gowns that would be perfect for a Cinderella-inspired look! Cinderella is such a classic princess, and the blue of her ballgown would look perfect on anyone! Pair it with some glass slippers, and you'll have any wicked stepsisters out there green with envy! Prom is such a special time - who knows, the next time you step into a floor-length gown may be on your wedding day! Make this dress count!

Don't forget to give the prince your digits, and try to be home by midnight!

Disney Cruise Packing List

Thursday, August 4, 2022

 Hey there princess!

For my cruise this year, I had tons of fun planning our trip and getting all the "essentials" together. If you are planning a cruise for yourself and are looking for some inspiration, please enjoy my finds below!

This bag from Etsy was too cute, plus I love a custom item! Find it by clicking here!

I wore this quarter zip with my name on it on repeat during my trip! It was SO SOFT. This was another Etsy find, and you can get one for yourself by clicking here.

I also purchased Niles and I a lanyard to wear so that we wouldn't lose our room card. I chose pattern 2 for both of us, but this shop had some fun options! You can find their Etsy shop by clicking here.

To go with the lanyard, I bought these clear plastic sleeves from Amazon. You can find them here.

Last but not least, I bought Dramamine - classic! I ended up not needing it, but my husband did when the boat got more rocky. It worked! You can pick one up for yourself here.

Babymoon Aboard the Disney Wonder: Day 4, Day at Sea

Wednesday, August 3, 2022

 Hey there princess!

Day 4 aboard the Disney Wonder was our last full day on the cruise. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and we decided to focus on just resting, relaxing, and enjoying our time together. I think everyone should do their own thing on their vacations, and Disney provides you with enough options to be able to have whatever kind of vacation you want to have. I saw other passengers spending a lot of time at the pool, and others take advantages of activities onboard like crafts, bingo, trivia, etc. For me, I just wanted to sit outside and watch the water, and take naps. It was an incredibly restful trip!

I was still stuffed from dinner the night before, so for breakfast, I stuck with oatmeal and some fruit tarts from Cabanas. If you're interested in a larger, more lux breakfast, places like Triton's are open for complementary breakfast, but each morning I found myself just wandering to the buffet because they were open later in the morning and sleeping in was a top priority. Cabanas also offers fresh fruit, eggs, waffles, bacon, sausage, and other standard breakfast items.

After breakfast, we took a walk around the boat and made a stop at the three gift shops onboard to make any final souvenir purchases. I got myself a spirit jersey and Niles purchased a t-shirt. We were also sure to pick up a Christmas tree ornament and some bathtub toys for baby boy to-be.

The ocean was absolutely beautiful, and I spent several hours on this day just sitting outside enjoying the view. I was surprised that the rocking of the boat completely negated my pregnancy nausea. It is the best I felt the whole time I was pregnant. I absolutely love the ocean.

Onboard, they also have "Dole Whips" available for purchase out by the pool. Now, I will say this had a smoothie consistency, so it was different from the Dole Whips that are available at Disney parks, which are more of a soft serve consistency. The flavor was exactly the same, though, and I loved this! I drank all of mine, and probably half of Niles' glass. Such a terrific treat!

On our last night we got a little penguin on our bed as a surprise after we saw the evening show. I will say, all of the shows were incredible and so much fun. It was so wonderful to hear my favorite Disney songs and see the beautiful sets and talented actors. I love watching any kind of theater, and I looked forward to seeing the show every evening. Even if you're not that interested in Broadway, I would really encourage you to go to each of the shows. They are tons of fun, and had me feeling incredibly nostalgic.

Dinner was at Animator's Palate, which was a really fun restaurant with TV screens on the wall that showed progressions of classic Disney pictures being drawn. For people going on longer cruises, you will have the opportunity to draw your own picture and have it be animated on the screens during the dinner show. Even without that, we had tons of fun at our meal, and as per usual - everything was delicious!

I ordered two entrees at this dinner, the chicken breast and the steak, because the meals are all you care to enjoy, and my Dole Whip was a distant memory! I have to say both were delicious! If you want two entrees, or two appetizers, or every single thing on the menu to take one bite out of to try - just ask! Your servers will be more than happy to bring it to you!

I got the ice cream sundae for desert - fantastic! How cute is the little chocolate Mickey on top?!

Our servers wrote our initials in chocolate on a plate, which I thought was very cute!

Sorcerer Mickey came by for the dinner show, and went by each table dancing and posing. Once the show was over, we went straight to bed. The next morning, we were disembarking the ship, so we wanted to get ourselves packed back up, and enjoy our last night on the softest bed in the world! Seriously - the bed is so comfortable, and the pillows were divine. I slept so well on this trip.

On our last morning, we got our luggage together and headed to Cabana's so that I could have one last Mickey waffle before heading home. This was an absolutely amazing trip, and I would absolutely go again! Once our little guy gets older (and potty trained) I would absolutely take another trip like this, or maybe do one of their themed cruises for Halloween or Christmas. There were tons of activities onboard for kids (though as two adults traveling without children I never felt like the experience was too kiddie), and I would love to splash around in the pool as a family.

That is the end of my Disney Wonder trip! I want to do a follow-up blog to this with all of the items I purchased in anticipation of this trip from small shops (and other essentials I used from Amazon). If you have any questions, please let me know, I would love to answer them!

Babymoon Aboard the Disney Wonder: Day 3, Cozumel

Tuesday, August 2, 2022

 Hey there princess!

On this third day of our cruise, we docked in Cozumel, Mexico to beautiful weather in the mid-70's with an incredible breeze coming off of the water.

After a quick breakfast, we met the rest of our excursion group so that we could depart the ship together to go on our tour of the Mayan ruins and a chocolate factory. There weren't too many people in our group, and we were all able to fit into two air-conditioned passenger vans together. I think it is worth noting that our tour lasted from about 10am to 2:30pm, and we were provided with bottled water by our tour guides and a tortilla with mole on it at around 1:00 at the chocolate factory. There was not stopping for lunch along the way, and by the time we were back on the boat, Niles and I were both super hungry. If you're going on a tour like this, I would pack a snack to eat on the bus.

The first stop on our trip was the Mayan Bee Sanctuary. We didn't actually tour this location, but we could purchase honey if we wanted to, and it was the largest available public restroom that we could use, so everyone got in line! The weather was gorgeous, and I loved getting to see the beautiful tropical plants all around us.

The first tour spot on our journey was the Mayan ruins. Now, this isn't exactly the type of ruins that you might imagine, with huge pyramids. Instead the site they took us to is one that was covered by the jungle for thousands of years, until locals re-discovered it and a large-scale preservation effort began in the 1970's. The name of the location is San Gervasio, and our guide told us that it is thought that the purpose of this particular area was for women seeking pregnancy, or women who were pregnant to come and pay homage to the goddess Ix Chel who would bless both childbirth and fertility. I thought this was very fitting, since I was 6 months pregnant during this visit!

What a beautiful area! Our guide said that the roads were paved with limestone so that they would glow at night so that people could see where they were traveling. I am so thankful that we got to see this beautiful place. It made me want to visit more of the world!

Next, we visited the Mayan Cacao Company, where we were able to see how a modern-day chocolate factory works. This area was also incredibly beautiful, and was located at a cacao farm where all of the beans for the chocolate we ate that day were grown. We were able to take a tour of the area, and our guide even gave us handmade corn tortillas with mole (a chocolate sauce) inside. It was piping hot and so delicious... I could've eaten like 10 of them!

The owner of the factory gave us a history lesson on Mayan chocolate production over the years, and then let us sample chocolate using original production methods. Everything was delicious! I loved that I got to learn something, and eat - two of my most favorite things!

I am so grateful that we chose to go on this tour! Our guides were kind, thoughtful, and made sure that all of our questions were answered and needs were met. We had an absolute blast, and I know that I made memories I will treasure forever. If you're thinking of going on a tour like this as opposed to something like... swimming with dolphins or driving golf carts down the beach... this for sure was fun! It wasn't boring, and I felt really safe with our guide and tour group.

Before you knew it, it was time to get back onboard the ship! Here is a view of it from the dock.

This evening, the theme for dinner was "Pirate Night." Our towels were folded to look like Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean, with fun gold medallions for eyes - as if we needed more chocolate that day! For dinner we were back at Triton's and we couldn't wait to dig in!

Dinner was insane! The pirate theme extended to both the food and the floorshow. My husband ordered the steak for his main meal, and we both dug into crab cakes, grilled shrimp, jerk chicken, and red beans and rice. Everything was delicious, and I so appreciated having such a filling meal after such a long day. I will say - Disney takes care of you here. Our wait staff were so incredible and let us try literally everything we could eat. Not pictured is the macadamia nut cheesecake. It was so good they gave me one to-go so that I could have it as a midnight snack! I absolutely did eat it later that night, and it was just as divine the second time around.

This was our last meal at Triton's for the trip, and I had to get a photo of the mural on the wall. The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney animated film and I was so happy in this room!

We got to enjoy fireworks outside on the high seas for our last event of the evening. What a treat! The fireworks were so fun, and they were the perfect thing to send me off to bed!
